LASER VISION CORRECTIONPeople everywhere are making the decision to "Lose the glasses" through corrective laser surgery. This safe, effective treatment has been performed on over a million patients worldwide. At Fox Eye Laser & Cosmetic Institute, our patient satisfaction in achieving favorable results is unparalleled in the industry. As an innovator in the refractive surgery field, Dr. Birchansky introduced the first excimer laser to eastern Iowa after its FDA approval in 1995. The unparalleled precision of the LADARVision 4000 excimer laser system, coupled with the exceptional surgical skill of Dr. Birchansky (LINK TO HIS PAGE), offers patients a visual outcome that will be most satisfying.
The excimer laser was first developed in 1972. It does not cut tissue like a scalpel; rather in ablates or vaporizes tissue from the corneal surface. The laser is able to precisely re-shape or sculpt the corneal surface, which corrects for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The LADARVision system tracks the position of the eye 4,000 times per second, guiding the placement of the laser beam with pinpoint accuracy. By utilizing this state-of-the-art technology, developed by NASA, patients are able to relax during the procedure and know that they will get the best possible results. Dr. Birchansky has successfully treated very low to moderately high degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Laser vision correction procedures are performed in our special surgical suite with the Alcon Autonomous LADARVision 4000 eye-tracking laser. Fox Eye also incorporates the latest technology for correction with the LADARWave CustomCornea Wavefront System. Dr. Birchansky has successfully performed thousands of vision correction procedures and will help you choose the procedure that's best for your individual vision problem, whether you're farsighted, nearsighted or have astigmatism. To treat nearsightedness, the steep cornea is made flatter by reshaping the center of the cornea. This moves the point of focus from in front of the retina to directly on the retina. To treat farsightedness, the flat cornea is made steeper by reshaping the central optical zone of the cornea. This moves the point of focus from behind the retina to directly on the retina. To treat astigmatism, the cornea is made more spherical -- like a basketball instead of a football. This eliminates multiple focusing points within the eye and creates one point of focus on the retina. Astigmatism can be treated at the same time as nearsightedness and farsightedness. All laser vision correction procedures are not the same. Because of our dedication to excellence, Fox Eye is the premium eye care provider in the area. Our surgeon is highly trained in a number of laser vision correction procedures. And we've invested in the laser vision technology needed to provide you with the best possible care. Fox Eye is the only practice in the area offering E-LASIK, in addition to the traditional LASIK procedure, to treat your specific vision needs. The best way to determine if you are a candidate for laser correction is to schedule a FREE SCREENING in our office. During that time, we will visit with you about the procedures, show you an educational video and discuss financing options. We will also conduct a few simple tests on your eyes to determine if refractive surgery may be for you. You will also meet with Dr. Stalzer, who will discuss your options with you. At 45 minutes, the FREE SCREENING fits perfectly into a lunch hour! Mention this website and receive a gift at your free screening! |
