Conventional laser vision correction can produce excellent results, but for many patients CustomCornea delivers even better results.

CUSTOM CORNEA

Fox Eye is pleased to announce that we have upgraded to CustomCornea, which makes the highest quality of corrected vision now available to our patients.

The most common types of visual distortions are nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Doctors call these types of visual distortions "lower order aberrations." They are responsible for approximately 85% to 90% of the quality of your vision. Since the mid-1800s, doctors have measure lower order visual distortions (nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism) by having patients read letters on a standard Snellen Eye Chart. Doctors have traditionally considered vision "normal" if patients could identify the small letters on the 20/20 line from a distance of 20 feet. But scoring 20/20 on your vision test doesn't necessarily mean you have excellent vision, especially if the letters you are able to identify are not crisp and clear.

Until now, conventional laser vision correction, like glasses and contacts, could only correct lower order visual distortions. But there are other imperfections in your eye's optical system that may affect the clarity of your vision and how well you see at night or in low light. Doctors call these visual distortions "higher order aberrations," which cause glare, shadows, halos and other annoying visual effects. Until these higher order aberrations are addressed along with the lower order aberrations, the quality of your vision may not be ideal, even if you have measurable vision of 20/20.

Now, thanks to advanced wavefront technology, it's possible to measure and address both lower and higher order aberrations. The LADARVision System is the only laser vision correction system proven to deliver results better than conventional laser vision correction, which makes it the best option for our patients.

How it works:

First, flat waves or light are passed through your eye using a computerized wavefront-measuring instrument called LADARWave. As the light waves travel through your eye's optical system, the distortions in your vision are measured. LADARWave captures the distorted waves as they exit your eye and compares them to the perfectly flat light waves that would have been reflected if your optical system had no distortions.

Next, a 3D map is generated representing your unique visual distortions, including both lower and higher order aberrations. This map is a guide for the laser, telling it where to reshape your cornea to correct your vision.

CustomCornea is the process of reshaping your cornea to address both lower and higher order aberrations using a laser vision correction procedure. The goal is to give you a better result than conventional laser vision correction by improving the quality of your vision.
